Yes, we ask for a deposit. Details are on the foot of our estimates when issued.
Kanda is a credit broker set up by ex-tradespeople and entrepreneurs, on a mission to help homeowners access finance without the burden of lengthy and difficult finance applications. Find out more about them here.
Applying for finance doesn’t guarantee approval. Lenders use a mix of positive and negative indicators to evaluate each application individually. However, here are some basic requirements. You must:
Applying for finance doesn’t guarantee approval. Every lender on Kanda’s panel uses its own confidential scoring model that blends information you provide with data from credit-reference agencies. Even if you meet the basic requirements (age, residency, income, property ownership, etc.), a lender may still decline.
Yes. You’re entitled to request a manual review of the lender’s decision. For data-protection reasons, only you (the applicant) can do this — neither the retailer nor Kanda can act on your behalf.
Yes. A lender will run a credit check when you submit your application. This only affects your credit score if the job is completed and repayments begin (they call this a hard credit check). If you cancel or are declined, only a soft credit search is recorded, and the outcome is not shown on your credit file.
No. Finance applications are individual, make sure the applicants with the best credit history applies. Some lenders may also evaluate the household income, but joint applications are not currently supported.
Once approved, your agreement remains valid for 6 months. The project needs to be completed and signed off within that timeline. If both parties agree to cancel the agreement (e.g: no work has begun, and you changed your mind about it, or decided to pay cash instead of taking finance) please contact Kanda’s customer support right away. They will help arrange any necessary changes with the lender. Finance agreements can also be cancelled within 14 days from the approval by contacting Kanda or the lender.

We ask you to provide rough measurements of your windows during the estimate process. The best way to do this is to measure the width, from pulley stile to pulley stile and to wall, and the height, from sill to lintel. Diagram.
The lead time for manufacturing and installing your sash & case windows will depend on a variety of factors. This is something that we’ll discuss with you once we have a clear understanding of your requirements.
Yes, as well as traditional timber windows, we offer uPVC alternative.
There are pros and cons to both options. Both will give excellent energy efficiency and will look great. Both are available with double glazed units.
Timber frames are precision-made for smooth movement. These will require regular maintenance, but proper upkeep will ensure they last a lifetime, adding value to your home.
uPVC is low maintenance and cost effective. However, plastic can discolour and can become brittle over time, and if a fault occurs, repairs are difficult to carry out and windows may need replaced if over 10 years old.
No, we recommend seeking advice from a glazier.
We are primarily sash and case, but we also offer other types of windows such as casement uPVC and Velux. Please get in touch to discuss your window project.
Please refer to our handy guide to maintaining your sash & Case windows.
We offer 3 types: single-glazing; Double-glazing; and Heritage Double-glazing.
A lot will depend on condition and what repairs are required. In some instances it may be more cost effective to replace which will give you a better performing, energy efficient window.
Benefits of replacing will instantly add value to your property, reduce heating bills and save energy, reduce outside noise while improving the overall look of your property.
It’s a tough choice if cost is an issue.
Here is a handy guide to assessing your windows.
We offer a solution to most common problems; re-roping sash cords; draughtproofing; sand mastic replacement; replace parting beads and brushes, baton rods, ironmongery and Simplex fittings.
No. We do not provide this service as the original sashes were made for 4mm glass. Fitting double-glazed unit into an existing single-glazed sash would compromise the strength and integrity of the sashes. We would propose a complete replacement as it is more cost effective and gives a better performing window, this is due to the draughtproofing system being fitted during the manufacturing process, ensuring precision and overall quality.
Secondary glazing involves adding another slimline glazed panel to the inside of your existing windows. It is an extremely cost-effective method of insulating and soundproofing your windows whilst reducing waste and resource consumption. This is more popular in A-listed buildings due to strict regulations in place.
If you live in a listed home, windows and doors cannot be changed without listed building consent. We have a guide to help you determine if your windows require listed building consent.
If you are unsure of your home’s status search the Historic Environment Scotland portal
