Here at Sash & Case Windows, we have always had a long-term commitment to our eco-footprint and impact on the environment.
That said, post lockdown and plenty of time to review and revisit, we have decided to double our efforts to move towards a Net Zero target as a business. This is across all our windows products and services.
We will be investing time to look for ways to improve our environmental impact. This is not just lip service or some feint idea of improvement. We are 100% committed to doing whatever we reasonably can to enhance our eco-impact on our people and our customers.
Our view is simple – if you look after your customers, people and society then it’s best placed to support and look after you.
More details will be revealed over the coming months. However, to give you an idea of some of the things we have been busy working on for our ongoing journey to reach Net Zero, please see this list below.
Accreditation
We are always open to advice and support on the best practices to follow. We are pleased to be endorsed by Zero Waste Scotland for our eco business practices. As an overall business, we are actively working through the required steps to reach a Platinum Accreditation.
Recycle, Reuse & Reduce
Reduced consumption has always been a sensible practice for us. We are now fully engaged in both recycling and promoting the re-use of wider materials more than ever. This covers our workplace and onsite at our clients’ own premises.
Architectural Salvage
Soon we will be submitting posts on Freecycle, Freegle and Facebook Shop. We are also looking into further community routes for our used equipment & tools.
Enviro Skip Hire
For key waste management, we have established a new partnership with Enviro Skip Hire Ltd. They own two fully licensed recycling facilities, that allows all of our waste to be sorted into recyclables and non-recyclables.
CO2 Carbon Offsetting via Tree Planting
To offset our carbon footprint further, we are now looking at using tree planting via both the National Trust and One Life One Tree. One Life supports the Sequoia Project, where one tree can offset for a lifetime, one person’s carbon footprint.
Electric Vans
Our Sash & Case Windows Direct vehicle policy is supported by the Energy Saving Trust. One consideration under review is if the timing is right to change our fleet to fully electric vehicles. We will have further information on this later in the year.
Summary
These are just a few of many ideas and projects we have underway to help improve the environmental credentials of our sash and case windows business. There will be more to follow and we will keep you informed on our progress.
Overall, we know our targets can be achieved via a collective team effort.
